PumpToolkit Update

Calculator Reliability and Usability Update

PumpToolkit has received a broader calculator update focused on calculation reliability, clearer navigation and practical engineering use.

Unit Converter rebuilt

The flow converter was rebuilt to support correct bidirectional conversion between mass flow and volumetric flow using liquid density.

  • kg/s, kg/h, t/h and lb/h can be converted to m³/h, m³/s, l/s, l/min and US gpm,
  • volumetric flow can be converted back to mass flow,
  • the duplicated and confusing secondary flow result section was removed.

Example: 10 kg/s at 1000 kg/m³ equals 36 m³/h.

Hydraulic and pump power merged

The former Hydraulic Power and Pump Power calculators are now combined into one tool. The calculator displays both:

  • Hydraulic Power – useful power transferred to the liquid,
  • Pump Input / Shaft Power – required shaft power after efficiency losses.

The older Hydraulic Power page remains available as a redirect, so existing links are not lost.

Calculator functionality restored

A JavaScript initialization issue introduced during the Unit Converter rebuild affected several other calculators. The shared calculation logic and event handling were restored and checked.

The fix covers Pump Head, Pump Specific Speed, Suction Specific Speed, Pipe Velocity, NPSHa, Friction Loss, Affinity Laws, Material Advisor and the remaining engineering calculators.

Interface and technical updates

  • the Tools menu now contains one combined Hydraulic & Pump Power entry,
  • a new impeller favicon was added,
  • the sitemap was refreshed,
  • existing calculator URLs and internal links were preserved where practical.

Engineering note

All PumpToolkit calculations remain preliminary engineering aids. Final values should be checked against project specifications, manufacturer data and applicable standards.
