BETA

Material Compatibility Advisor

Preliminary pump material recommendation based on service, temperature, concentration, chlorides, pressure and practical material economy.

Advisor

How the beta logic works

The advisor ranks common pump materials using a simplified compatibility score. It is inspired by general industry material-class selection guidance and public chemical resistance chart logic for common services. It considers corrosion resistance, temperature/concentration sensitivity, chlorides, solids, basic mechanical pressure notes and practical cost reasonableness. Expensive high-alloy materials are not automatically ranked first when standard carbon/cast steel is normally sufficient.

Material families:

  • Cast iron, carbon steel, 12% Cr
  • 316 / CF8M, duplex, superduplex
  • Alloy 20, Hastelloy C-276, titanium
  • Cost-aware ranking for common non-corrosive services
  • PFA / PTFE lined construction

Engineering note

Industry material classes are useful for pump construction guidance, but they are not a complete corrosion database. For unclear chemical services, specific material recommendations should be obtained from the purchaser, end user, corrosion specialist or pump manufacturer.
