Pump Power (Input Power)
Calculate pump shaft power (input power) required to operate the pump.

Pump Power (Input Power)
—
Formula
The pump input power is calculated as:
Pinput = ρ · g · Q · H / η
Where:
- Pinput = pump input power [W]
- ρ = liquid density [kg/m³]
- g = gravitational acceleration [9.80665 m/s²]
- Q = flow rate [m³/s]
- H = total head [m]
- η = pump efficiency [decimal]
Engineering note
Pump power (input) accounts for pump efficiency losses.
Hydraulic power is the theoretical power transferred to the liquid.
